CAS(E) this Sketch #16 and CAS-ual Fridays #91

A few quick details as it is already past 1:00am!!! Stamped and silver embossed the triangles, then die cut and mounted on a fluorescent lime green panel that was popped up with dimensionals.  The base card and the diagonally cut black panel are both cut with the stitched mats (hard to see on the black).

... till tomorrow

TAWS - Be Inspired #22

The Inspirational Photo

I am so happy to finally play along with a TAWS challenge! Love these bright, vivid colors and the interesting slatted fence.

I do have a few TAWS stamp sets, however  I didn't have any suitable for the inspirational photo so I used the FREE digi stamps that Ali has so generously posted on the blog.

My interpretation was somewhat of a 'graffiti wall' gleaned from the slatted fence in the photo.

The paint brushes were computer printed in various locations on the neutral card stock, then again on individual brightly colored papers, fussy cut and then paper pieced.  I then cut the panel into individual 'boards', inked the edges and mounted on the bright green card stock

The sentiment is also a free digi masked and printed in a straight line (original image has 3 lines).  A bit of work to get it spaced right, but I think it worked out quite well.

Take a moment to check out The Alley Way Stamps blog - you'll be glad you did.

Unscripted Sketches #199

A close up ...

A little bit 'froo froo' for may taste, but baby cards just seem to need more 'stuff'.  I used my Lil' Inker Designs stitched mats and stitched banner (love these) along with SU stamps, paper & ribbon, Recollections letters (for Welcome) and Cuttlebug embossing folder. The elephant was stamped and fussy cut  and popped up using one layer of craft-a-board for the body and two layers for the ear.

This sketch has tons of possibilities, so get your crafty on and show us what you've got! Just click to link. Don't forget to check out what the rest of the DT has posted.

Unscripted Sketches #198

If you have arrived here from the Unscripted Sketches blog and are a bit confused with the color of my card posted here compared to the US sight....well, I changed the color! Really did not like the green!

SU Passion Pink is IMPOSSIBLE to photograph! The stamped SU sentiment looks like a rub on (I assure you it is not) and the pink looks like it was exposed to some radioactive gases!

I used washi tape for the candles (popped up with dimensionals), made the flames from 1/2 of a small heart, drew the border around the card and stamped the SU sentiment with Tuxedo Black (Momento) ink.

I may try taking a photo outside tomorrow to see if the color is more true.  However, the reflection from the nine million feet of snow that we have might cause a glare as well.

The sky is the limit with this sketch so I am looking forward to some really creative approaches.

Happy crafting!

CAS-ual Fridays - CFC90 and CASology Week 31: RED

Thanks !

When in doubt, wear red.”
William Ralph "Bill" Blass
(June 22, 1922 – June 12, 2002)
Bill Blass was an American fashion designer.
He was the recipient of many fashion awards & owner of a $700-million-a-year business.

I googled the color "Red".  This quote popped up, so I ran with it.

Great timing though because my co-worker is headed off on a cruise and she is a bit anxious about what she is expected to wear to the formal occasions. I passed on Bill's advice to her!  This will be her Bon Voyage card!

I used a free clip art image that I found on-line.  I didn't have a clue how to change the image from black, so I traced it onto red card stock and paper pieced the dress. Added a bit of bling and a computer generated sentiment.  I really like how this font seems to work with the style of the dress.

So head on over to CASology and check out all the really rad red creations, both by the ever so talented DT as well as all the folks playing along with this challenge.

And how sweet is the timing on this challenge.....this weeks CAS-ual Fridays challenge is black, white plus one color of our choice.....in my case red! They have just announced their newest DT members.  WOW - that is one deep talent pool :) Curious to see who made the cut....head on over and have a peek see!

Oahu and Kauai Pics

I promised that I would post a few pics of our recent holiday. The picture quality is not that great as we took our small Canon camera (didn't want to lug my nice camera around!).  More to follow in the next day or two...

The view from our balcony on Waikiki Beach.  The tall hotel on the far right (behind the pink building) is where we spent our honeymoon 35 years ago :)

Dinner Buffet at the Polynesian Cultural Center with our friends Liz & Rae (Dan & I are on the left)

Proof that "YES, I DID ZIP LINE!"... and lived to tell about it!
A bit of an Aaaaaagh before starting!

One of the nine lines

Look closely, that's me coming down !

Whale watching from our condo balcony in Kauai
(impossible to catch a whale spouting with a camera!)

THANK YOU MOXIE FAB WORLD

I find it really quite uncomfortable tooting my own horn, but after some gentle nudging from my sweet and supportive blog buddies, I have caved.  I humbly share my exciting news with you.

Cath Edvalson, Trends Editor for Paper Crafts Magazine at  Moxie Fab World blog contacted me in mid December asking if she could feature me as a Moxie Fabber of the Week!  I replied by asking her if she had the wrong e-mail address!  Needless to say, I was excited, humbled, nervous.....

The toughest part of this experience was keeping the secret until the post date.

The best part was meeting so many new friends from the congratulatory messages that I received. It truly made my heart happy!  Thank you for making my wee moment in the spotlight a special one :)

CAS(E) this sketch #14

This is my first time playing along with CAS(E) this sketch!.  I would have loved to play along right from the start but one thing or another always got in the way. The entire DT  oozes talent.  Check out the beautiful creations that they have posted and try to join in the fun!

I was inspired by the colors at the current newly ended MUSE challenge.  I missed the deadline for entry by one hour - didn't clue in to the ET until it was too late - Sheesh!

Card details: Tilth flower die; Simon Says Stamp Chevron Washi Tape; really old SU rub-ons (love the quality of their rub-ons - too bad the stopped making them); CTMH cs.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Happy crafting!

Unscripted Sketches #197

Scroll down to see the pull tab message

I'm back from a lovely vacation on the islands of Oahu and Kauai.  All refreshed and ready to get crafting!

I strayed a bit (okay, maybe more than a bit) from the original Unscripted Sketch. I had this idea in my head to do a pull tab, this is the result.  This is also my very first card using Washi Tape...now I see what all the hype is about. Fun stuff!

I wanted to create a photo collage layout (four photos in one picture) but could not find a collage feature in my photo editing program .  Anybody with any suggestions?

The heart is die cut from Memory Box Dies, the words are from an ancient rub-on that I had laying around and the paper is SU Pink Passion (another oldie).  The main panel is embossed with a SU folder (slightly visible in the top photo).

We would love to see what this sketch inspires you to create.  Just click to link.

Happy crafting!

CASology Week 29: GAME

A close up of the letters

Just returned from a fabulous vacation and realized that there was still 22 minutes left to play along with  this week's CASology's challenge and I had the perfect card for it!

I know you have seen this card in a previous post, but I didn't know how to edit it so that it would show up at the top of my blog posts ????

Card details copied from the previous post:
I happened to find a scrap of light colored wood grain paper in my stash that is similar to the tiles of a Scrabble game - Yay!  I computer printed the letters on the wood grain paper,  then die cut each letter individually using the smallest Nestability square die.

I wanted the tiles to look authentic so I die cut squares from some chipboard type product (reclaimed packaging ?), glued two pieces together, then glued the printed tile on top. 18 tiles x 3 layers = 54 passes through the Big Shot!

I created the "board" graph on the computer, glued the tiles to the board, added some bling and popped up the panel on some SU Tangerine Tango paper.

At this point, I would tell you to hop on over to CASology and 'get in the game' but by the time you read this, the current challenge will have ended!
